Michele, does sort of look like America. But Jeff Bazo has a 500 million dollar yaught. One must set priorities. Someone said once that pictures say something.
The Grapes of Wrath is one of my favorite classics and unfortunately for my students the few years I've chosen to teach it, it's one of my favorites to teach 😂 It is such a beautiful book with powerful words that relate to us today. Since I taught it in AP Language, I used it as the literary basis for our discussion of economic issues. Have you read The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah? I loved that book also. And if you love Gatsby (I actually don't), I highly recommend reading Beautiful Little Fools by Jillian Cantor. It's the story of Gatsby as told by the women in the novel. It is brilliant.
I'm so glad you posted this again in your notes today, because I wasn't on Substack reading your writing last May. This is so helpful about their tactics to separate us, and our need to find solidarity, community, and connection now. Thanks reminding us of our history and our potential.
Thank you for this timely reminder of the enduring power of the Grapes of Wrath. I followed your sign up link for the Wednesday call with Anat but it goes to Zoom lala land. Have you a better one?
Thanks for reminding me of one of the most powerful books I've ever read. I tried to sign up for the call with Anat but it gets me to a Zoom sign up place
Hi Joy! I'm so glad you liked it – and agree 100% that Grapes of Wrath is beyond powerful. This is a post from a few months ago, so the "action" part of the newsletter is outdated. I'm so sorry if that was confusing. 💙
Beautiful. Thank you, Michele.
Thank you, KLS! Lovely to see you here, and hope you're having a great start to the week.
