I have had enough. Personal daily call campaign to my senators and rep starting today to impeach and remove him. It’s time to end this before he ends the world

Wonderful! I'm so glad you're doing this – it's important for us to use our voices. Be loud! 💙

Excellent column! It's past time we the people demand that the media hold the entire Republican party responsible for what is going on. I never know what to believe, but I called Jason Smith's office and the gal taking my call demanded my mailing address or she would not record my message. That was the first time I'd gotten that responses and I told her I would not give her that info as I feared retaliation. I gave her my zip code. She protested that they would not just my address to identify me and or engage in retaliation. I told her I was sorry I did not believe her (I do not) and I thanked her for her time and hung up. That's what my elected official considers freedom of speech and how he shows he cares what his constituents think. I have called his office many many times and never had anyone demand my mailing address.

Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear this – and don't blame you for being concerned when this was so different from your past interactions. And yes – it's way past time for people to demand the GOP be held accountable. Everyone needs to speak truth to power just as you tried to do. 💙💙

Honestly, the man who supposedly represents me and the other folks living within the bounds of our district, Chuck Edwards, is a complete congressional cipher - a nothing, a robotic tool in service to whomever sends out the daily marching orders to Republicans in Congress and throughout this godawful administration.

The man refuses to even interact with media outlets he has decided are “unfair” to him - i.e., those that asked tough questions about his stances on important issues affecting both our district and the rest of the nation. He is a multi-millionaire who made his fortune through ownership of multiple McDonald’s franchises, and I’m thinking the sales pitch made to him by Republican power brokers went something like this:

“Chuck, it’ll be the sweetest side gig you’ve ever had - more money, more access, more power, dude! And the ONLY thing have to do is vote the way we tell you, and keep your head down.”

So, if our boy, Chuck, is a fair representation of what the average Republican congressman today thinks and does, I will say that our current president can do literally ANY F**KING THING he wants to, and he will get nothing but mindless supports from his Republican minions.

Sadly, by their actions they're proving your point. Our only hope is that they want their jobs more than his praise, and that enough of their constituents will reach out to at least start to give them pause...

The GOP need to find a conscious? I appreciate a spine, yet how can they sleep at night knowing they have put this $hit$how in power and allow them to take more power while creating more of a $hit$how! WTF?

Pat Robinson's avatar

I believe a lot of them are just as bad as trump but I hope there are a lot, maybe more who are not like him and who indeed are having trouble sleeping. Especially Senator Cassidy who is a physician who supports RFK (till lately when he spoke out a little about the new vaccine schedule) and Roger Marshall who is an OB/GYN. These folks and the other physicians both violated their Hippocratic oath when they confirmed rfk and continue to do harm (not only not do harm but actually DO harm) by continuing to support him and I hope that bothers them. A lot. I have been very lucky to have only a few doctors in the past several year...had a pcp for over 25 years and his replacement seems fine and my ob/gyn for 15 years so I don't worry that when I see a physician it may be one that really does not care about their Hippocratic oath.

So well said, Michele. His delusional state is getting worse, and if he’s not stopped, there are no limits to the crazy things he can do. So many Republicans have just sold their souls - politically and morally - to go along with this. I’m 69 now; been watching politics since I was 12…..I’ve never seen and never anticipated anything like this awful moment.

I think he's far beyond what any one of us could have imagined he'd be. He's unmoored, unhinged, unboundaried. And the people who could provide guard rails are refusing to do so. It's the worst part of their cowardice. 💙

I was sitting reading your note today, drinking a cup of coffee, holding my phone in my hand, so I called my Republican congressman. Thanks for the script. Thanks for the impetus. I may have gone a little off piste, but I kept to the bottom line. My congressman is pretty rabid, but there’s always hope.

Michele Hornish's avatar

This is wonderful! I'm so glad you called, and even more glad that you shared you had done so. Thank you! 💙

I love that you still think there is always hope!!! I do not feel that way about my MOCs but I do think there is hope in other areas and if we can elect enough non Republicans we can remove the power from these spineless ones.

Decades ago. It just gets worse every day.

Michele Hornish's avatar

It does, doesn't it? Just when you think it can't get any worse he does something even more unmoored... 💙

Yes, mind boggling!

You really are delusional. This started long before Trump. Since before WW2, America has functioned as a neo-colonial empire by force, finance, and coercion. It invades or destabilizes nations under moral pretexts then opens their resources and economies to politically connected private interests. A global web of military bases and the petrodollar system gives America the ability to pressure and control foreign governments and ensure compliance.

I have seen enough reporting around the Epstein files (and now the allegations from Sasha Riley) to understand that quite a few members of Congress are being honey-potted. Remember Maria Butina, whose job it was to compromise Congressmen? Remember that Eric Swalwell was involved with a Chinese spy about 16 years ago? But Swalwell swatted that away. I think there are men in Congress - and most of them are Republican at this point - who are afraid of more than losing their seats. They are afraid of losing their freedom, and maybe even their lives and the lives of their children.
